Online Alarm Clock
Set a time and keep this tab open — it rings when it’s time.
Your alarms were restored, but the browser needs one tap before it can play sound.
Free from Ticka — the reminder app that rings like an alarm, even on silent. This alarm needs the tab open and the computer awake. On your phone, Ticka rings even on silent. App Store → Google Play → App Store → Google Play →
This alarm only works while this computer is awake and the tab is open. Your phone can do it better: Ticka rings like a real alarm — even with the phone on silent — and the same alarm is there again tomorrow.
What a browser alarm can and can’t do
A web page can ring on time, but only while it is running — and a page runs only while the computer is awake and the tab is open. That sounds obvious until the morning a laptop decides to sleep at 3 a.m. and the alarm never happens. It is the reason this page keeps the screen awake while an alarm is set, and the reason you should not close the lid.
The second trap is timing. Browsers slow down background tabs to save battery: a page that is not visible may only be allowed to run its code once a minute. An alarm built on ordinary timers can therefore ring up to a minute late. This one hands the sound to the computer’s audio clock in advance, which browsers do not slow down, so it rings on the second even when the tab is hidden.
Within those limits it is a reliable alarm for naps at your desk, the end of a study block or the moment you have to leave for a meeting. For waking up in the morning, a phone is simply the better device — it is already by the bed, and it does not need a tab.
For a short sleep in the afternoon, the nap timer is the better fit: it counts from when you lie down, adds time to fall asleep and starts quiet. For something you must not miss later today, set a reminder on your phone instead.
Questions
Will the alarm ring if I close the tab?
No. The alarm lives in this page, so the tab has to stay open. It can be in the background or minimised — just not closed.
Will it ring if my laptop goes to sleep?
No — a sleeping computer runs nothing, including this page. While an alarm is set, the page asks your browser to keep the screen awake, which in most browsers also stops the computer from dozing off. Closing the lid still puts it to sleep.
How loud is it?
As loud as your computer volume. Press “Test sound” before you rely on it, and check that the volume is up and the sound is not going to headphones you have taken off.
Can I set more than one alarm?
Yes. Each one rings on its own, and they are remembered if you reload the page — tap the page once after reloading so the browser allows sound again.
Why is snooze nine minutes?
Because it has been for decades: the classic alarm-clock snooze, kept by the iPhone for most of its history. We left it alone.
