Set a Reminder
Type it like you’d say it. It goes straight into your phone’s calendar — nothing to install.
Scan with your phone’s camera — this reminder opens there, ready to add to the phone’s calendar.
One catch: calendar alerts follow your ringer. With the phone on silent or in Focus mode, this one will show up quietly. If it’s a pill, a pickup or a call you can’t miss — Ticka rings like an alarm, even on silent.
Why reminders get missed — and how to make this one land
Most missed reminders aren’t forgotten to be set. They fire, and nobody notices: a banner at the top of a screen that’s face down, a buzz in a bag, an alert silenced by a Focus mode set up months ago for something else. A calendar reminder is only as loud as the phone allows it to be.
Three things make one land. Time it to a moment you’ll be looking. “Tomorrow at 9” works if 9 is when you sit down with coffee; “in two hours” often lands in the middle of something. Write the action, not the topic — “text Sam the address” gets done, “Sam” gets swiped away. Add an early alert for anything with travel or prep, so the reminder starts the task rather than announcing you’re late.
On an iPhone, check that Calendar is allowed through your Focus modes (Settings → Focus → the mode → Apps). On Android, calendar notifications follow the “Events and reminders” setting of Do Not Disturb. We looked at what goes wrong more broadly in our read of 2,252 user reports on reminder apps.
Questions
Do you store my reminder?
No. There’s no account and nothing is saved on our side — the reminder lives in the link and then in your own calendar.
Which calendars does it work with?
Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and any calendar app on Android that opens .ics files. Google Calendar uses its own default notification; the .ics file brings its alert with it.
Can it repeat?
Yes — every day, on weekdays or every week. The time stays the same when clocks change for daylight saving.
Will it ring if my phone is on silent?
A calendar alert won’t — it follows your ringer and Focus settings. That’s the gap Ticka is built for: its alerts ring like an alarm even on silent.
