3 Minute Timer
Set for 3 minutes. Press start — it rings when the time is up.
This timer runs while the tab is open. If you need it to go off when your phone is in your pocket — that part needs the app.
Three minutes: when guessing stops working
Three minutes is where estimation quietly breaks down. Ten seconds you can feel, ten minutes you can plan around, but three minutes is long enough to drift and short enough that the cost of drifting is immediate: over-steeped tea, a hard-boiled egg you wanted soft, a plank held for half as long as you thought.
These are the tasks where the timer is not a productivity trick but an instrument. Nobody times three minutes to be disciplined; they time it because the outcome changes if they get it wrong, and attention is a poor clock.
It is also the standard interval for things designed to be uncomfortable — a rest between heavy sets, a cold shower, holding a stretch. Three minutes is deliberately just past the point where you would have stopped on your own.
